Cupcakes for Sale

Zula had a cupcake stand this summer. Gid helped out getting customers by yelling "Cupcakes! Fifty cents!" from the sidewalk.

Yum!

Tae Kwan Gidi

Gid started Tae Kwan Do this summer.

As you can see, he's really got the hang of it.

Thanks, Grandpa!

in a box

One of the nice things about being as little as I am is you can fit in a lot of unexpected places.

We went on a great hike while we were in Colorado -- I had a pretty good perch, as usual.
This shot is from the top. Daddy, is there any reception from up here?

Gid got a good perch for some of it, too. See John, Lucas and Grandaddy behind us?

Gid was a great hiker and went most of the way on foot, however.

Zula disappeared up ahead with her older cousins -- here she is with Adam, coming down from seeing a waterfall.

Here's Beckett, Gibson and Adam.

We crossed log bridges...

and a boulder field.

And saw tons of wildflowers...

The view from the top was pretty spectacular -- here are Brooks, Paola and Nico enjoying it.

At the top was a glacial lake -- here's "Olbyrs West" in front of it.

You might see this photo again in your mailbox soon!

July 4th in Breckenridge

This summer the Westendorfs had a family reunion in Breckenridge, Colorado. One of the first things we did was eat breakfast with Grandaddy.

Some of us waded in an icy river.

Or just watched from the rocks.

Guess what else? We rode on a cable car to the top of a mountain!

I had the best seat in the house!

Zev and Indy

This summer brought a lot of visitors.

Amanda and Indy came all the way from San Francisco.

Sometimes I feel a little stunned by everything.

But it was really nice to see them!

Return of the Jedi

The jedi knight who show up at our house are usually happy,

but sometimes very fierce!

Father's Day in Annapolis

Hey everybody! For Father's Day we went to Annapolis with Grandaddy.

We took a water taxi across the harbor and then walked back across the bridge.

We came across a pirate ship.

With real cannons...

Do you think I'm big enough to pilot this ship?

Zula, watch out! There's a pirate right behind you!

The best part, of course, was the ice cream.

Gideon's 4th Birthday

Gideon's 4th birthday began, of course, with an early morning light saber battle. Some of the jedi were more enthusiastic than others.

That evening lots of friends came over for a party in the backyard.

Pizza, beer and babies...what more could you ask for?

I spent a lot of it on Grandma's lap. Here are some of the guests:

Angus & Margaret with Rich

Grandpa and Slidey -- who has left us for Chicago ) :

Heather and Zadie

Auntie, Yanna and Kai had fun with Sklyar.

But Gidi and his crew were more interested in bey-blading.

Let it rip!

Mommy made a superhero cake!

Everybody's piece had a different superhero.

Then it was time to open presents.

This one is especially delicious.

Happy birthday, Gid!
