Trip to Switzerland, the finale: Basel

All good things must come to an end. Our last night in Switzerland was spent in Basel, at the BEANs apartment. Noah has some great comic books.

Uncle Ben and Daddy discussed education over Passover dinner leftovers.

Zula ate a banana

and Zev ate his own hands.

We'll miss you, Switzerland! Thanks a wonderful trip!

Trip to Switzerland, part 8: Bellinzona, the town

We followed some winding stone stairs down from the castle, past mysterious doorways

rooftops

and followed a narrow street that led to

Bellinzona's beautiful central piazza

Where a cafe was waiting just for us

with red-checkered tablecloths

and most importantly, gelato.

The cool thing about Bellinzona is you can see the castle from everywhere

peeking out from behind all the modern things

See it? (Click on the picture to make it bigger.)

Our cafe was across from a church

with a beautiful fountain

and other lovely details

like this window.

Back at the cafe, Uncle Ben was having fun with Zev.

Ciao, bambino!

Trip to Switzerland, part 7: Bellinzona, the Castle

Hey, everybody! You'll never guess what we did on our last day in Switzerland.

We left Lugano by train...

...and got off in a magical place: Bellinzona.

That's me on Daddy's shoulders, on the grounds of a real castle, looking up the hill at more castles.

See?

Can you see us here? We're looking out a window...

...that knights probably once shot arrows out of.

The cool thing about this castle was that you could just wander around, exploring.

Or climbing on the walls.

Or checking out the moat.

Or pretending you were storming the castle.

It was raining, but who cared?

We were swinging

and doing handstands.

We were running down the walls of the castle

and sneaking back through the tunnel.

To top it all off, we could see the Alps.

A good time was had by all!
