Zula at the Movies

Hi everyone! Welcome to the latest edition of my blog! Posted by Picasa

This week I went out to lunch with my friends Ben and Hannah. We had a very interesting conversation about the role of babies in the postmodernist movement. Posted by Picasa

We invited our mommies to join us for dessert. There's my mommy, Audrey, and Lauren. Hi ladies! Posted by Picasa

After lunch, Ben and I decided to go see a movie. We wanted to go alone but.... Posted by Picasa

...our mommies insisted on chaperoning. We saw "Just Like Heaven", a delightful romantic commedy with Reese Witherspoon and Mark Ruffalo. They're both pretty fine actors, which got me thinking... Posted by Picasa

...Maybe I should be an actor. If I decide to go for it, I want to be versatile; not one of these people who gets pigeon-holed in the same roles everytime. That won't do. I want directors to call me and say, "Zula, gorgeous, I've got this new movie. Can you do romance?" Posted by Picasa

"Romance," I'll say. "Rose is my middle name." Then I'll step onto the set and give them my wistful, I-wish-he-were-here look, while staring out the window. Posted by Picasa

Then another director will call and say "Zula. I loved you in the romance. But can you do musicals?" And I'll say, "Musicals? Can I do musicals? I know every lyric to every song of 'the Music Man'." And then I'll step onto the stage and let it rip. Posted by Picasa

Of course, then, once it's clear that I pretty much cover the gamut, I'll get calls for mob-movies....godfather type stuff. F'gettaboutit. I'll give them godmother routine. "Joey...I want you to listen carefully. If you don't do this for Zu-Zu you're going to be sleeping with the fishes, and we don't want that do we..." Posted by Picasa

People tell me that kung fu movies are making a come back. No problem. I can do kung fu with my eyes closed. Posted by Picasa

Then there are zombie flicks where I'll have to sneak up on frightened humans and scare the begeebers out of them. I love those ridiculous thrillers! Posted by Picasa

Of course, then, at the height of my career, I'll move to the screwball comedy. That's when I'll break out all the stops....I mean, we're talking faces that nobody even thought were imaginable! Posted by Picasa

It will be quite a career. Posted by Picasa

I suspect I'll have my share of fans...the little people who just want a piece of you. That's cool. I won't forget that i was once a little person too! Posted by Picasa

Okay, enough day dreaming. Now, some photos of me with friends and family. Here's one from the archives. Me and my meme hanging out on the porch. Posted by Picasa

And here I am waiting for a sandwich at the Lost Dog Cafe. In the back, my mom and my grandaddy. Hi grandaddy! Posted by Picasa

Here's another shot of me with Barak, who was visiting from Oakland. He went to school with my daddy and now he works for the Oakland Public School System. Posted by Picasa

Here I am with Fred Swaniker, another friend from business school. Fred is starting an amazing school in South Africa called the African Leadership Academy. Check out the website at www.africanleadershipacademy.com Posted by Picasa

And finally, here's a shot of me with my new friend Mira. She came over for dinner the other night, with her parents Eric and Kate. Posted by Picasa
